2019-06-07 Data:07/06/2019 Italian Theatre Festival 2019 Maeci After a sell-out success in 2018, the Italian Theatre Festival returns to The Coronet Theatre to celebrate some of Italy’s most distinguished writers and performers. The Festival will run on the 7th and 8th of June, taking place in the heart of London, at the Coronet Theatre in Notting Hill. PROGRAMME Friday 07 June - 7PM Three Italian Short Stories Performed by Greta Scacchi, Alessandra Vanzi & Lucy Russell.
Three classic 20th century Italian short stories - Elsa Morante's The Ambitious Ones, Natalia Ginzburg's My Husband, and Fabrizia Ramondino's The Tower - are showcased by Greta Scacchi, Alessandra Vanzi and Lucy Russell. In Remember Me: Homage to Hamlet, Fabrizio Gifuni pays tribute to Shakespeare’s Prince of Denmark. For Gifuni, Shakespeare’s Hamlet is a never ending work in progress, a journey which started with a three-year workshop in the 1990s with Orazio Costa, in whose words ‘you will all bring something of Hamlet with you, throughout your life, and you will always come across characters imbued with this tendency.’ [BOOK HERE] Saturday 08 June - 7PM Winston vs Churchill Play by Carlo G. Gabardini Directed by Paola Rota Performed by Giuseppe Battison What makes a man capable of shifting the course of history? Is it bravery, strength or simply circumstances? A portrait of the man and the politician, Giuseppe Battiston explores the larger-than-life persona of Winston Churchill in Carlo G. Gabardini’s play. [BOOK HERE] Saturday 08 June - 9PM Odysseus Filó Performed by Marco Paolini Live music by Saba Anglana (voice) & Lorenzo Monguzzi (guitar and voice) The character of Ulysses imagined by Marco Paolini is the subject of Odysseus Filò- evolved from Paolini’s recent performances in Nel Tempo degli Dei at Piccolo Teatro di Milano. Ulysses experienced and suffered much in his twenty years travelling far from home. Towards the end of his life he reflects on insincerity and hidden identity. When he speaks, he enchants...
